Welcoming the Collins Family to The Hill

This winter, we welcomed a new family to The Hill, our Harrisburg Foster Care Community!

The Collins family moved into the Hubbell Home.

Andrew and Lori Collins are deeply committed to fostering children well. Their family is an excellent example of people showing compassion, love, and care to children in foster care and their families.

The Collins family has been fostering for several years now. They were initially called to foster because they are passionate about providing children with a safe home.

“Every child deserves a safe and loving home,” Lori shared. “Children in crisis need it desperately. They need someplace to grieve and grow. Their families need to know their children are safe and loved while they work through their problems and prepare to make their homes the safe and healthy places they need to be.”

Andrew and Lori received their foster parenting license before Coyote Hill began licensing foster families in 2020. However, they were familiar with Coyote Hill’s mission, and we were excited to start advocating for them when we launched our Family Advocacy Program.

Over the last several years, it has been inspiring to see the Collins’ commitment to continuing education, participating in trainings, and investing in opportunities to care for the children in their home with special attention and care.

Lori shared that while it is difficult to open your home to other children, caseworkers, and CASAs, it’s important to make necessary sacrifices in order to care for children.

“[Our children] need us to take some of their burdens and to do the hard things,” Lori said. “At the end of the day, the blessings overflow as we give to God and protect His little ones. We cannot out-give God, and we cannot help but grow in grace and joy as we step out in faithfulness and love.”

We are so excited for the Collins to continue their foster care journey at The Hill!

We know they will continue to provide a safe and loving environment to the children they care for.

“It is such a privilege and a help to have this community surrounding you as you do this hard and wonderful work,” Lori shared. “The homes [at The Hill] are so big and beautiful and perfect for children to grow and play in. We could not offer this kind of home to our littles without the help of Coyote Hill. The staff is eager to help in any way possible—which lightens the load and gives us the ability to stretch ourselves as needed for the kids. The heart of Coyote Hill is to be a safe place to be a child— and that heart is evident in every person here at the Hill.”
