Family Connections

The Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries Family Connections program creates a comfortable environment where children can spend time with their biological parents. Volunteers supervise visits between children and their parents in a home atmosphere. Caseworkers refer families who are working towards reunification. Volunteers take detailed observation notes, which are sent to the Family Support Team to work towards the case goal of reunification!

We strive to offer an environment where families can play and interact in a relaxed setting.

Why is reunification important?

Children are able to reunify with their biological parents when parents develop a support network and conditions are safe for a child to return. Reunification is generally the priority in all cases because it preserves connection to family and results in less trauma for children.

The Family Connections Home helps families work towards reunification because it allows parents to regularly see their children. This helps to encourage them in addition to building up their support network.

Coyote Hill offers Family Connections in Columbia, Missouri and Jefferson City, Missouri.

Family Connections Volunteers

Volunteers submit a background check and receive training to facilitate each visit. This is a weekly, one-hour commitment, which is ideal for individuals that are looking for a consistent volunteer opportunity. This is a highly relational program these individuals often work with the same families week after week to build relationships and trust.

The path to reunification begins with weekly supervised visits between parents and children. Volunteers help children get home by assisting with these supervised visits. We are currently hosting all visits at our Family Connections Home in Columbia. Interested? Please fill out the volunteer application below!
