Life at The Hill

An Amazing Sanctuary

We utilize many evidence-based practices in our ministry, all contributing to the healing, growth, and success of our children.

The Hill is Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries’s foster care neighborhood, featuring six large foster family homes and one duplex situated on 300 beautiful acres. We are committed to creating a safe place to be a child for children whose childhood up to this point has been marked with abuse and neglect.

The Hill directly fills a gap in our foster care system by primarily caring for sibling groups. A child is twice as likely to live with their brothers and sisters at The Hill than at another foster home.

When arriving at The Hill, each child receives a new bike and helmet. Each home features a huge playground and basketball court. Additionally, The Hill has a lake with water trampolines, a campsite with a fishing pond, a baseball field, and trails to explore.

Our Equine Program is also hosted at The Hill.

We currently have an opening to live at The Hill.

Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries has transitioned our homes on our 300 acre Harrisburg campus to become a foster care community. Foster parents interested in living in one of our homes should be licensed and have fostered for at least two years. If you have a passion to help more children, but have lacked the space or resources to do so, we may have a place for you!

Foster parents who live at The Hill will not be employees of Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries. You will manage your own home and the children placed there, just like you currently do. At least one foster parent is required to have employment or proof of income.

We are looking for experienced, licensed foster parents who have a passion to help more children. You will be provided a large home, utilities, furnishings, abundant recreational resources, and a community of like-minded individuals living right next door.

Sarah Hays: Why I Love Being A Parent at The Hill

“The reason I want to foster is for sibling sets, and it is so much easier to do that at The Hill,” Sarah said. “Whereas in our three-bedroom house we were full, right now, we have all that space—we could take more children! It was hard for us to leave family and friends in Moberly, but it all fell together in a way where we knew it was what God wanted us to do.”

Secure Homes

The Need: Each year, hundreds of children enter foster care in mid-Missouri. This means hundreds of children in our neighborhoods are in unsafe homes.
The Solution: Research has long suggested that child abuse is known to repeat itself from one generation to the next. That’s why we create secure homes for children to live in, both at our fostering community in Harrisburg and in our licensed foster homes throughout mid-Missouri. At Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries, we are committed to creating a safe place to be a child.

Family Advocates

The Need: As the number of children entering foster care increases, licensing and retaining foster parents has become a tremendous challenge. This results in a lack of loving, supportive foster parents for children who desperately need them.
The Solution: We have a 88% retention rate of foster families, compared to the national rate of 50%. By licensing more foster parents, and then supporting those parents by assigning them a Family Advocate, we are helping to meet that challenge. Family Advocates are essential to the mission of Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries. A Family Advocate’s role is to ‘walk through life’ with our foster families, while also providing in-home coaching and mentoring for the foster families on a regular basis. They maintain a relationship with the family to make sure they have everything needed to be successful and create stability for their child.
