Today is the first day of summer—and we are so excited for what summer has in store this year!
Summertime means that there is a ton of stuff happening in our community. Check out these eight signs that it’s summertime at Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries!
1. Summer means that there are longer days for children to play outside and spend time with one another. It also means our Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries kiddos spend a lot of time swimming!
We love that our families get to utilize the lake at our Harrisburg Foster Care Community, The Hill! We also look forward to Lake Day at the Glennon’s Lake House each summer!

2. It also is a perfect opportunity for families to take advantage of our Memory Makers fund.
Summer months can be a great time to take a family trip, have a child attend a sports camp, or visit the zoo or an amusement park! The Memory Makers fund makes this possible for our foster families!
3. Summer Equine Sessions are in full swing!
Our Equine Program runs in the spring, summer, and fall, but we are able to offer more sessions in the summertime! We also welcome additional wranglers in the summer, which creates more opportunities for children to participate in equine therapy.
4. Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries Staff is preparing for Family BBQ.
One of the best parties of the summer, our Family BBQ, is on July 1. This event is open to all Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries supporters and foster families! We will have food, a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce houses, and an amazing fireworks show! You don’t want to miss this.

5. We have summer staff working with our property managers, Sam and Tom, with Janelle and the Equine Staff in Overton Arena, and with Daisy, our Community Coordinator.

This is a great opportunity for children to learn tangible, real-world skills, while earning money. We are so grateful to have excellent staff to support them in a safe, patient environment.
6. We have opportunities for visiting volunteer groups throughout the summer.
We recently welcomed Harrisburg Christian Church’s summer staff to play Slip ‘n’ Slide Kickball! We love the chance to connect with groups in the community and enjoy the summer weather together in fun ways. Learn more about how you can volunteer at The Hill!
7. Night of Champions is coming up in July!
Night of Champions is a partnership with Mizzou Football and For Others, where children in foster and adoptive homes can attend a football camp experience on Faurot Field. Each child is paired up with a Mizzou Football player! It is a great time, and we are so excited for this year’s event!

8. We get to enjoy delicious summer treats!
From our friends Kona Ice to ice cream, one of our favorite parts of the summer is winding down from a day in the sun with a sweet, cold treat.

Summertime is one of the best times of the year, and memories with Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries kiddos are so, so sweet. We are so excited to enjoy another summer together!
