Love Notes from Children

Love notes. We expect and hope for them on special occasions, like Valentine’s Day. They delight and surprise us at other times of the year.

Any parent will tell you that a note of love and appreciation from a child is one of the best gifts they can receive. Our Home Parents receive many. Some are cute and decorative; others pierce the heart.

We honor the confidentiality with which each note was written and leave out the authors and specifics. Yet our supporters need to know that our children desperately need love and care, and your support has made that possible for some of them in ways they never experienced before. We love, because He first loved us (1 John 4:19) and because your gifts, given in love, allow us to love these children the way God intended.

When I tell you, I love you I don’t say it out of habit or to make conversation. I say it to remind you that you guys are the best thing that ever happened to me. You gave me your time – the most thoughtful gift of all. Thank you. I want to say thank you for the patience you have with me. You stand by me, with all my faults and mistakes. I highly appreciate that. Thank you for always being there.”

“I love you guys because you have showed me you care and love me. This is hard to explain, but you are the mom and dad I have always wanted…You guys have showed me the most love I have ever had in my life. It is true. You guys are amazing, and I don’t ever want to lose you, ever…You guys are my life. I love you very much.

Excerpts of notes from children who recently left Coyote Hill

“You all were so kind and so nice to me. We have made some memories that are nice.”

“I will miss you every day. I love you. Just remember my name, or if you don’t, I gave you a photo so you will. When I am a teen I will send you another picture and you can see me growing from the photo you have of me.”

“I will miss you so so so so so so so so so so so so much. I can’t count how much I love you and will miss you and love you, but I know it is a bunch.”

“Thank you guys so much for your help and all the time you put into me. You changed my life…I might argue with you sometimes, but that is just because I love you and don’t want to live a life without you. Thank you for treating me like a mom should and being there for me…thank you for being a dad for me and putting up with my problems and giving me hugs. You taught me a lot. I’ll miss your hugs when I leave, but I will never forget what you did for me. You guys were my first mom and dad that I got to sit at a table with, play games with…I thank you for that. You changed my life and you changed my future. I love you guys so much.
