Stay and Play

We recently hosted a “Stay and Play” event in Columbia at Christian Fellowship Church. Unlike  traditional respite night event, foster parents were invited to stay with their children and play together.

This event provided several opportunities for parents to intentionally connect with one another and with the children in their home. Play is an important element of building attachment between a parent and child.

We felt privileged to offer an environment where distractions are stripped away and families could enjoy an afternoon together.

Families were able to play gaga ball, spend time on an outdoor playground, do crafts, enjoy pizza together, and more.

Everyone also had the opportunity to watch The Lego Movie. We brought a classic popcorn machine from The Hill, which was a huge hit!

The LEGO® motif was carried on throughout the event. There was a jar of LEGO® blocks and everyone was able to guess how many blocks were inside. The person with the closest guess won the jar. We also had several beautiful LEGO® creations created by children and families.

This event also allowed Family Advocates to see Coyote Hill foster families. It is always a great time to engage with our families and the children they care for. We are so blessed by a wonderful community of foster parents throughout our community.

Christian Fellowship was a fantastic venue for the Stay and Play event. We are so grateful for their generosity in allowing us to continue to use their space!

We are also grateful for all of the volunteers who helped to make this event possible. Thank you for all of the ways you support foster families!
