Our Memory Makers Program can provide funds for school activities, sports equipment or fees, family trips, and more. Recently, families have been using Memory Makers funds for birthday parties for their children!
One child had a birthday party at Sky Zone Trampoline Park. His Family Advocate was able to attend the party, and overheard him say, “This is the funnest day ever,” and “This is the best day of my life!”
Another Coyote Hill family had a Stitch-themed birthday party for their 17-year-old daughter. Her foster parents used Memory Makers funds to purchase her an e-bike, helmet, and accessories. This has given her more freedom without the commitment of getting a car.
“She’s loved the independence to go to youth group, a coffee shop, or her job on her own!” her foster mom shared.
Our Memory Makers fund helps children in foster care replace negative memories with positive ones. From birthday parties that are the “funnest days ever” to giving a teenager more autonomy and freedom, we love seeing children have fun with their families and friends.
It is also very special that our Family Advocates have been included in these birthday celebrations! Our Family Advocates walk alongside foster families and support children during the highs and the lows of their fostering journey. It is so fun to be able to share these birthday memories with our families and celebrate the children in their homes.
