Looking Back on 2023

It is amazing to see the ways God worked through Coyote Hill homes and families last year to create positive outcomes for children impacted by foster care. Because of the generosity of our supporters and the steadfastness of our foster families, there were so many children in foster care who felt safety and security in 2023.

In 2023, Coyote Hill served 276 children and 210 homes.

Our Coyote Hill community continues to grow! We have gone from six homes and one duplex at our Harrisburg Foster Care Community to over 210 homes throughout mid-Missouri. These homes were able to provide a safe place to be a child for 276 children in 2023.

We are license families to be traditional foster families and respite care families throughout the year. This year, we licensed 76 new Coyote Hill families in Columbia, Hannibal, Jefferson City, and Moberly.

These families are essential to our vision of creating an eternally significant difference in the lives of children impacted by foster care. By providing a safe home for a child, they are interrupting the cycle of abuse and neglect in this generation.

This includes 76 newly licensed families.
52 families received Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)® training this year.

Trust-Based Relational Intervention® is a research-based intervention that provides trauma-based tools to help families connect with and empower their children.

52 families participated in TBRI® trainings this year, either through our TBRI® classes or through Hope for the Journey, the TBRI® conference we hosted in Hannibal and Columbia.

Memory Makers is a program that helps us empower foster families to make lifelong memories with their children. This can cover a variety of experiences, like seeing the ocean or the mountains for the first time. It can also include paying for sports fees, uniforms, graduation memorabilia, and more!

We can help cover part or all of costs for families. We love being able to help replace negative memories with positive ones.

109 Memory Makers requests were fulfilled, creating lifelong memories for children.
674 hours of supervised visits at our Family Connections home.

Our Family Connections Program launched last year, with help from Boone County Children’s Services Fund and Veterans United Foundation. This program allows children to have supervised visits at our Family Connections House with their biological parents. This year, children were able to spend 674 hours with their parents! This time is so valuable!

55 children reunified with their biological family.

Reunification is always the first goal of foster care. We love to celebrate when children are able to return to their biological families when it is safe. 55 children reunified with their families this year! This is a huge victory and we are overjoyed that these children were able to return home.

23 children found permanency through adoption.

When reunification is not possible, we celebrate when children are able to find permanency through adoption. In 2023, 23 children in Coyote Hill homes were adopted. We are so excited for all of our adoptive families this year!

Please join us in praying for every child in Coyote Hill homes as we continue into 2024. We know that God is at work in their lives. We are so grateful for all of our supporters, who continue to change the landscape of foster care in central Missouri.
