Each year, hundreds of children enter foster care in mid-Missouri. This means hundreds of children in our neighborhoods are in unsafe homes. For 30 years, Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries has worked to keep kids safe.
Keeping Kids Safe means giving children secure homes to live in.
Research has long suggested that child abuse is known to repeat itself from one generation to the next. That’s why we create secure homes for children to live in, both at our fostering community in Harrisburg and in our licensed foster homes throughout mid-Missouri.
Foster mom Nissa Armstrong reflects on what it means to have the opportunity to live at The Hill in Harrisburg, MO. “I moved out here in April, and it’s been a huge blessing,” she said. “Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries is my support system.”
At Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries, we are committed to creating a safe place to be a child.
Keeping Kids Safe means providing resources to license and train foster parents.
At Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries, we provide the resources and training to help parents provide a temporary or forever home for a child in foster care.
“Licensing families in the community builds healthier future families and communities,” Amy Kingery, our Licensing/Training Director said. “One of the phrases we use in our training is ‘finding families for families.’ I enjoy empowering our foster families to in turn impact and empower the children in their homes and ultimately impact future generations. It takes a lot of energy, time, love, and perseverance from our foster families. I am thankful to be part of one piece of the journey.”
Foster parents stand in the gap to help a child heal from the trauma they’ve experienced and teach them valuable life skills – that’s why we are excited to license foster parents around mid-Missouri.
Keeping Kids Safe means providing advocates to walk through life with foster families.
Family Advocates are essential to the mission of Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries as we are the only organization in mid-Missouri providing Family Advocates! A Family Advocate’s role is to ‘walk through life’ with the foster family, while also providing in-home coaching and mentoring for foster families on a regular basis. They maintain a relationship with the family to make sure they have everything needed to be successful and create stability for their child.
“The joy of advocacy is anticipating and fulfilling the needs of the families we serve as they navigate the foster care and adoptive world. My favorite thing to do as a Family Advocate is send the foster parents away for a date or self-care while I connect with their children by providing a home-cooked meal. I make sure the dishes are done afterwards! I love seeing the parents return refreshed and hearing the words, ‘I/We needed that!’ Consistent support is the key to longevity as a foster parent, and Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries Family Advocates are here to serve.”
