Living Well Begins at Home: A Matching Gift Challenge from Anderson Homes

Russ Anderson has been building beautiful homes in Columbia for nearly two decades.

Hundreds of homes hold the structural integrity and aesthetic beauty that is the standard of every home bearing the Anderson Homes signature.

Russ, however, has never been solely interested in building homes. He loves to design beautiful spaces, building in tremendous equity for his clients, yes, but he is most deeply interested in building community.

August’s matching gift challenge from Anderson Homes is a classic example of that heart.

We’ve long believed that living well begins at home,” said Anderson. “It not only drives the culture of Anderson Homes but we see how crucial that belief is when it comes to the work of Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries to create safe homes for kids. We’re honored to support that effort with a matching gift.

The Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries imprint on a child’s life is evident. While Russ was not part of the foster care system himself, he was no stranger to Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries as a teenager. His mother, Carolyne, (a single mom raising Russ and his three siblings) participated in weekly Bible Studies at the Hill. Russ would come along, engaging and helping care for the children at the Ranch while his mom participated in Bible Study. “It was a formative season of my life for sure. I learned that even that weekly engagement with those kids could have a tremendous impact on their self-esteem and well-being. I hope I offered even a fraction of the good I gleaned from spending time with the kids of Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries.

We celebrate any time someone sees the need clearly and responds. In that spirit, we pray this matching gift from Anderson Homes may inspire others who see the need as well. Call it 20/20 vision. In the month of August, Anderson Homes will donate $100 for the first 20 new family partners who will pledge at least $20 a month to Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries. How exciting!

The Anderson Homes challenge has been set and the opportunity now before us. Spread the word. Make the ask. Catch the 20/20 vision! We whole-heartedly agree with Russ: Living well begins at home!
