In 2004, Jerry and Maggie Ubl contacted Larry McDaniel to see if they could come for a tour of Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries in Harrisburg, Missouri.
“It was just absolutely breathtaking,” Maggie reported during an interview by KFRU’s David Lile. “The children were so well-behaved, and everything was so well organized. We couldn’t believe all of this functioned mostly through the support of donors.”
“I saw kids given the opportunity to be kids,” Jerry added. “Each home has a playground, they’ve got their kitchen area, their recreation area downstairs, etc. Like Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries advertises, it’s a lifestyle that lets a kid be a kid.”
“The thing that’s so neat about what Jerry recognized on their first visit…that’s been our theme from the very beginning,” Larry concluded. “Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries is a safe place to be a child. So many times, children from hard places don’t get a chance to be a kid because they have to be so many other things. Sometimes they play the part of a parent. Sometimes they’re just trying to survive. Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries gives them a safe place be a kid again.”
The Ubls became faithful donors after that tour in 2004. Then, they blessed us tremendously a couple of years ago by offering to help build another home for children!
Fast forward to today, and The Ubl Home is nearly complete! Yet it needs many items to truly turn this lovely house into a home. Hockman Interiors was extremely generous as the Petersheim Home neared completion in 2018 and donated many of the furnishings. They are once again donating some furnishings for the Ubl Home.
Yet there are so many items needed to turn a 5,500 square foot house into a home that is fully equipped to serve children. Everything from towels to kitchen supplies to board games to books. It can feel overwhelming!
That’s where we need your help! Our community has shown us over and over again, when we’re overwhelmed and wondering how in the world we can serve more children in the very best way, you are always faithful to step up and meet the need.

In closing, please know that we are READY to serve more children. We’ve done the best job possible of constructing another home. We’ve hired a new set of Home Parents, Kirkland and Tina Burbridge, who are now trained and ready to start serving children from hard places.

It is an unequalled experience working alongside these families who are called by God to serve the children placed in their care.
“We are prayerfully anticipating our move into The Ubl Home. Our hope is to serve children who may be going through one of the toughest transitions of their precious lives. There are many items that would help make this home a safe and memorable experience for these children. A well-stocked pantry, bathrooms, kitchen and playroom would help us confidently provide for the needs of children soon to be living in The Ubl Home. Each of us, whether the staff who serve the children directly or the donor who supports us financially, have the opportunity to provide a moment of joy in a child’s life.
