We have seen huge growth in one of the sibling groups staying at The Hill!

Two sisters have been living in the Ubl Home for several months. Recently, they have been able to utilize their strengths to serve others—one through leading worship, and one through tutoring kindergartners at The Hill.
“The growth I have seen is just basic trust and putting their guards down,” Stephanie, their foster mom, shared. “Once we showed them that they are not going to be ‘thrown away’ because they weren’t ‘ideal, perfect’ kids and that we see them, they had this amazing attitude of wanting to explore likes and interests. They had confidence in their ability to do things that were meant to be done at their age—play games, laugh, and be themselves without judgment or the expectation that they needed to be anything but themselves.”
Stephanie also shared that she sees lots of strengths and special characteristics in both of these sisters.
“For one, school comes easy and with that easiness, she has this ability to help those around her without making them feel less than,” she said. “She is an amazing jokester and very loving towards children. There is a sweetness about her. She accepts others where they are at.”
Stephanie shared that the other sister’s strength is amazing to see.
“She goes with the punches and fights for others. She is completely against any kind of judgement or discrimination. When she loves, she loves fully. She is learning that she has courage and that she is brave—this allows her to dream, to hope, and to imagine a future she has never allowed herself to think about.”
We are so honored that these sisters have been able to find stability and trust at The Hill.
“The Hill has been the biggest part of their journey with us,” Stephanie said. “One thing they have said since they have been here is that we don’t treat them like broken things. We treat them like they are our own. That is something that has been scary for them, but has opened them up to be able to have safe boundaries and safe relationships built on trust, integrity, and openness.”
