Fall is in full swing at The Hill, and we are loving the chance to spend time with children and volunteers in our after-school program. This program is offered to school-aged children at our foster care neighborhood.
Our volunteer coordinator, Daisy Marquez, has planned and organized all of this programming, along with other foster parents and volunteers. These activities typically include things like tutoring, baking, art projects, and more, but recently, children have been able to participate in fun fall-themed activities.
One afternoon was spent hiking through The Hill’s forestry trails, learning how to identify different tree species. This was especially cool because Tom Head, one of our property managers, made professional and permanent signs to label trees!
Children at The Hill have also made personal apple pies, learned how to build a fire and roast the perfect marshmallow, painted pumpkins, carved pumpkins, and done face painting!
“This fall, we have been busy making memories,” Daisy said. “We have amazing volunteers from MU’s Service Learning Program and Christian Campus House who dedicate time to pour into our children. Even with all the fun we have had, there is still so much to come!”
We are so grateful for the ways Daisy and our volunteers create such meaningful experiences for children at The Hill!
