A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped with school supplies
Each year, we share our need for school supplies. We always ask our amazing community to donate and every time we are blown away.
This year we faced a new challenge, as we are not only supporting 30-40 children living in our foster care neighborhood in Harrisburg. We are currently serving 126 children in foster homes across the mid-Missouri area. That is a lot of backpacks, notebooks, erasers, glue sticks, etc.
You all were up for the challenge! We were able to provide brand new school supplies and new shoes for each of our children as they start the new school year. We are once again so humbled by how our community goes out of their way to serve children from hard places.
This week, we opened a free “store” for our families to “shop” and get their school supplies. They really enjoyed being able to pick out a new backpack and pick up their shoes.
The new shoes were made possible thanks to the Ticket to Dream Foundation.
School supplies were purchased by dozens of amazing individuals (you know who you are!) and several others donated money to help us purchase additional needed items.
Organizations like KidsFirst Optimist Club collected supplies for us. A local gym, API Project Fitness, held a cornhole tournament to raise money to purchase school supplies.
Foster care takes a village. YOU are part of that village, and we are so grateful for your support. THANK YOU!
