Training Jefferson City Foster Parents

We are constantly saying that foster parents play a vital role in a child’s story – because they do. They step in the middle to help a child heal from the trauma they’ve experienced and teach them valuable life skills.

This spring kicked off our Jefferson City STARS class with nine families participating! With over 13,000 children in foster care in the state of Missouri and not enough foster parents, we couldn’t be more excited about these families stepping up to care for children.

“As a trainer, I love having a group that is willing to participate with discussions, questions, and able to create relationships within the class,” said Kyle Peek, our Jefferson City Area Coordinator. “It truly does take a village and community behind you, and this group is doing that, and it is a great step for success.”

The STARS class is the first step toward becoming a foster or adoptive parent in Missouri. These participants learn the rewards and challenges involved in caring for Missouri’s most vulnerable children.

After the STARS class is completed, our licensing team helps individuals complete all the paperwork and visits needed to become an official licensed foster parent. When Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries expanded into the community, our goal was to change the landscape of foster care. One way we are doing this is by walking foster parents through the licensing process ourselves.

“We love getting to know families through the licensing process and can’t wait to see where their journeys take them!” said Kyle.

It’s our desire to provide a seamless, personal experience for families who want to help children from hard places. By making this easy, we can license families more efficiently. By making it personal, we can vet our potential foster parents and ensure that children will receive care from the best individuals possible.

One of our foster parents, Jennifer Klosterman says it best, “If anyone is ever interested in fostering, I tell them they need to go through Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries. I wouldn’t want to go through anyone else – especially with their advocacy program. To me, there is no other route anybody should go to become licensed to be a foster parent.”
