This fall, we offered STARS trainings in all of the areas that we serve!
STARS is the first step towards becoming a foster parent in Missouri. This autumn, we trained over 25 new households, who are now licensed foster parents!
This is a huge milestone for our ministry, because we are licensing families on a large scale in our communities.
“It is such a privilege to provide more options for children and families,” Amy Kingery, Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries’s licensing and training director, said. “We are creating homes that are ideally going to empower families to break the generational cycle of abuse and neglect.”
We are hoping to break this generational cycle by pouring into children in foster care and by supporting the families that we are licensing to become mentors for the biological families.
“It is one thing to have classes and do home visits as we go through the licensing process,” Amy said. “But as these families welcome kids into their homes, we want to support them well. We want to strengthen all of the families that we come into contact with, both biological and foster.”
Two years ago, when Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries decided to expand our services to include licensing and advocacy, we were serving between 35 and 40 children at our Harrisburg foster care neighborhood. At the time of writing this blog, there are over 180 children in Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries homes. Everyday, families are receiving calls and welcoming children into their homes.
We are so humbled by the work that God is doing in this ministry, and we are so blessed to continue working to change the landscape of foster care in mid and northeast-Missouri.
