Stacks of Support in Northeast Missouri

On Saturday, October 3, the Hannibal community came together at First Christian Church for Coyote Hill’s annual Hannibal Pancake Breakfast, a morning filled with pancakes, raffle prizes, conversation and, most importantly, support for children and families in foster care.

Presented by U.S. Bank, the breakfast brought community members together for a simple morning with a meaningful purpose: helping create more safe, loving homes for children in foster care across Northeast Missouri.

“U.S. Bank is committed to supporting local organizations who provide resources and services to children.  We were honored to volunteer for Coyote Hill Foster Care’s fundraiser and provide sponsorship dollars to help ensure crucial programs and support continue to be provided to foster children in need.  U.S. Bank is dedicated to having a positive impact on children in our community, and we look forward to partnering with Coyote Hill again in the future.“
Dawn Lowrey, Assistant Vice President of US Bank, Hannibal

From the first stack of pancakes to the last raffle ticket, the morning was filled with people who chose to show up for children and families.

For Amanda Kohl, Hannibal Family Advocate, that community support was evident even before the breakfast began.

“Preparing for this event, it was wonderful seeing businesses in our local area so willing and eager to help, with both sponsorships and raffle basket items. Hannibal is not a big town, but the people here have a big heart to support our mission and help where they can.”

And during the breakfast itself, one small moment captured the joy behind the gathering.

“There was a moment in the morning when I walked into the dining room and it was buzzing with chatter, then a kiddo walked past me with a plate of sprinkles and the biggest smile. Foster Care can be a really hard field to work in, but there is also so much community and joy to be had in it.””

Events like the Hannibal Pancake Breakfast are about more than raising funds. They create opportunities for the community to learn more about foster care, connect with Coyote Hill and discover ways they can support children and the families caring for them.

For Coyote Hill, community support is an important part of strengthening the network surrounding foster families.

The breakfast was made possible through the generosity of sponsors, volunteers, First Christian Church and community members who donated their time, resources and support.

“We are so pleased with the generous support of our Hannibal community. Because of you, this year’s pancake breakfast was a huge success! We extend our sincere thanks to the donors who provided funding, supplies, and raffle baskets, and to the volunteers who assisted with setup and event operations. Your dedication makes it possible for us to continue our mission of creating safe homes for children affected by foster care.”
Mandy McFarland, Hannibal Advocacy Manager

The Hannibal Pancake Breakfast raised over $7,000 to support Coyote Hill’s work with children and families in foster care.

These funds help Coyote Hill continue walking alongside foster families through foster parent recruitment and licensing, training, advocacy and ongoing family support.

We are grateful for everyone who helped make this year’s Hannibal Pancake Breakfast possible. Thank you for gathering around the table, investing in children and families, and reminding our community that caring for children is something we can all be part of.
