Lake Day 2022

This August, all of the families living in our Harrisburg foster care community were invited to Lake Day at the Glennon’s!

This is a 12-year tradition, started by Kenny Rall and carried on by John and Cindy Glennon, Jeff and Cindy Parshall, Patt and Cheryl Stansberry, Mark Maassen, Tom Kaiser, and Lisa Dresner.

Our children had so much fun swimming, tubing, and spending time with one another.

“My favorite thing is the look on my kid’s faces,” Stephanie, one of our foster parents, said. “Just the look of pure enjoyment. There is no worry or drama. They are just carefree, and for kids like these, that is very, very rare. That’s why I love coming out here.”

For another foster mom, Bri, the best part of the day was getting to take a ride on a pontoon with Cindy and spend some one-on-one time with her and other children.

“I just love watching someone experience something for the first time,” Cindy Glennon said. “One girl today said that this was her first time on a boat. In the past, we have had children who have never been to a lake before. So that’s really special.”

Throughout the day, children were able to have time to relax and meaningfully connect with one another.

“There’s sometimes a stigma with teenagers, and what I really noticed was teenagers arriving with a chip on their shoulders, then getting in the water and connecting with each other,” Lorenzo Scott, a Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries Family Advocate, said.

Thank you so much to John and Cindy Glennon, Jeff and Cindy Parshall, Patt and Cheryl Stansberry, and Lisa Dresner for the effort and intentionality you put in to make the day so special for these children!
