Runge Fishing Event For Foster Families

We recently had a fishing event for foster families in the Jefferson City area. We want to give a huge shout out to Runge Conservation Nature Center for hosting this awesome experience!

Runge hosted an amazing fishing event for our families for free. Runge provided all of the necessary fishing equipment, including fishing poles and bait. They also had enough volunteers to work one-on-one with Coyote Hill kiddos. They helped bait hooks and show children who had never fished before what to do.

We had twelve children participate in this experience! Many of them caught a fish for the very first time. A couple children were a little squirmy around the worms and the fish, but most of them were very open to learning. Overtime, even the children who were a little wary became more comfortable.

One child ran up to Courtney Huff, one of our Jefferson City Family Advocates and said, “Guess what?” Then, she revealed a handful of worms!

We are so grateful for all of the organizations in our community that provide support for foster families. Thank you to Runge. We are grateful for all of the resources and time you invested in creating a memorable day for foster families!
