COVID-19: We Will Abide

Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries, a mid-Missouri nonprofit since 1991, and many other local nonprofits are facing significant set-backs and challenges amid COVID-19. Meanwhile, reports across the country predict an increase in need for child welfare services. Many nonprofits are already experiencing this increase.

With an increase in children needing foster homes expected, Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries initiated one of Missouri’s first ever online STARS (foster parent training) classes. Twenty-four families signed up.

With a demand for safe, quarantine homes for new foster children, Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries quickly opened a quarantine home on its campus that is now funded by the CoMoHelps collaborative through grants from Veterans United Foundation and Boone County Community Services.

With a demand for parenting resources for foster/adoptive families, Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries began weekly online trauma-informed (TBRI®) parenting training. This gives parents the chance to learn and ask questions from Boone County’s only TBRI® Practitioners.

Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries has adapted its entire foster care services branch to continue meeting the needs of foster parents. Meanwhile, the need for additional support is growing. Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries and other nonprofits can adapt for a season, but not long term.

Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries needs more monthly Family Partners. It’s lost several, consistent monthly donors who no longer have the means, or they’ve had to decrease their monthly gift. Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries is seeking individuals who will step up now for children in foster care. Individuals or businesses who will commit to giving a small monthly donation to ensure that Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries continues to train and license more foster parents, and keep siblings together in foster care at the children’s home.
