Celebrating Our Horses at Overton Arena

We recently celebrated our horses’ birthdays at Overton Arena with our second annual Horse Birthday Party!

No matter when horses are born, all horses turn one year older in January.

Janelle Willis, our Director of Equine Programs, decided to host a birthday party for horses in early February.

We do not have riding sessions in the winter, so this party gave children from our equine program the opportunity to connect with their horse in wintertime, when it is challenging to ride.

We enjoyed beautiful weather, and our horses received love and attention, including many pets and treats. They also received birthday gifts, including carrots, feed, and other supplies.

The barn was full of laughter as children participated in crafts, played games, and took photos. We had a craft table where children could paint horseshoes or create collage art by cutting pictures of horses out of magazines. Children also enjoyed several games, including corn hole and a ring toss. We even had some of our community foster parents and staff participate in a sack race!

We can’t wait for our equine riding sessions to start again this spring, but in the meantime, we are glad Coyote Hill kiddos came out to Overton Arena and enjoy a fun afternoon with our horses together. Thank you so much to everyone who attended!
