Celebrating 100 Foster Families Licensed

May is Foster Care Awareness Month – and we are excited to celebrate 100 foster families licensed through Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries! Foster care is a noble venture that can often be more difficult than many foster parents first believed. We are so grateful for these families who have stepped into an “impossibly hard, but incredibly life-giving” opportunity, as our foster parents Bryce and Kate Murray put it.

Yesterday, on Foster Care Awareness Day, we decided to go BIG and celebrate with our families. With families in the Columbia, Moberly, Jefferson City, and Hannibal areas, we traveled across mid and northeast Missouri to celebrate, leaving a party box on each of their doorsteps—105 boxes in total!

Each box contained confetti poppers, cookies, balloons, and more. They also received a personalized card from their licensing workers and Family Advocates. It was a joy to celebrate each of our wonderful foster families!

“We are so excited to celebrate each one of the families who said yes to foster care with us,” said Bill Atherton, Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries CEO. “They are all incredible individuals. We will continue to work on their behalf and look for ways to grow until there are more than enough foster parents.”

Providing care for children from hard places is mentally, physically, and spiritually draining – that’s why we work tirelessly to make sure our families feel strengthened, supported, and valued as they walk this important journey with the children placed within their homes. We love surrounding our families with a high level of support in order to encourage them and help them continue fostering!

The work does not end with these 100 families. There are over 14,000 children in foster care in Missouri. We must keep going until there are more than enough families for children.

If you or someone you know is considering becoming a foster parent, we have classes coming up in Jefferson City, Paris, and Columbia.  To sign up or learn more about our foster care training, visit coyotehill.org/fostercare.
