Open House 2014 Recap

God blessed us with a perfect day to honor a wonderful family, celebrate the opening of our 5th home, and host our annual Open House event! A steady stream of people arrived throughout the afternoon, and we were so excited to show everyone our newest home. After all, we couldn’t have done it without all of you!

Lutz’s BBQ helped us start the afternoon off right, with plenty of yummy food for everyone. Around 2 PM, our Executive Director, Larry McDaniel, shared with all of us about the sacrifice and service that Bill and Tammy Atherton have provided to Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries over the years. A plaque was presented to them, with a photo of The Atherton Home.

Next, the Columbia Chamber of Commerce got us ready for a ribbon cutting ceremony – making the opening of our 5th home very official. Tours of the home continued throughout the afternoon, as well as games for the kids such as a bounce house, a giant ring toss, etc. But that’s not all!

Around 3 PM Kona Ice showed up to provide lots of cool treats; and the hayrides and horse rides began. One mother, after watching her daughter ride a horse, said, “That was my daughter’s dream come true – she’s always dreamed of riding a horse!”

Having a dream come true is a good summary of this special day. Opening a fifth home has been a dream for many, many years…thank YOU for making it become a reality!

Thanks to all who came out to celebrate with us, and thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers who helped make our Open House event a huge success. Enjoy a few photo moments from our exciting day:
