Changing the Landscape of Foster Care

“We chose Coyote Hill because it is a Christian organization that will be offering counseling and assistance for foster parents. Starting off in foster care for the first time, we look forward to the support this community will give us as we take this journey together.”

That statement by new foster parents Dr. Kendal & Tisha Clark echoes the sentiments of others who are now willing to step into foster parenting because of the support offered through Coyote Hill’s Foster Care Services.

Tuesday, January 14th, was a day of celebration for Coyote Hill as we celebrated the launch of Foster Care Services in Columbia. Dozens of people gathered in the lobby of Bank of Missouri for an official ribbon cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.

Board members, supporters, neighbors and staff were invited to come together and celebrate this exciting expansion. During the celebration, Missouri Employers Mutual presented Coyote Hill with a check to show their support of our Foster Care Services endeavor.

As a community, partnering together, we have the ability to change the landscape of foster care in mid-Missouri. There are ways for everyone to become part of this change by coming alongside foster parents. When we empower foster families, generational change happens. We are excited to see people jump on board and support area foster families in various ways.

Coyote Hill is excited to begin training and licensing foster families in our community to provide more safe homes for children from hard places. We currently receive an average of one placement call per day for a child or sibling group. We are unable to serve every child. But every child is precious and worthy of love. Every child is an opportunity to help break the generational cycles of abuse and neglect, and to empower them to make a difference in their own world. And that is why we are passionate about creating and intentionally supporting more foster homes in our community where more healing and growing can occur.

Foster Care Services offices are housed at the Buttonwood Business Center. Everyone at Buttonwood has welcomed Coyote Hill with open arms, including Bank of Missouri. We are grateful to everyone at the bank for hosting a lovely reception for the ribbon cutting and providing food and drink.

Coyote Hill will provide care for foster children, mentorship for biological families when they regain custody, and support for foster parents.

“We were excited to learn that Coyote Hill was going to be offering an opportunity for families to be licensed.  When we met with Aubrey, we chatted for a couple hours about the foster process and expressed some of our concerns.  She was absolutely amazing, and truly made us feel so comfortable.  She shared so many of her own personal stories, both good and bad, which allowed us to feel like we knew the truth about the whole process.  We walked away from that meeting without any doubt that we wanted to move forward, knowing that Aubrey and Coyote Hill would be by our side as advocates for this entire process.”
