Over 280 people joined together on Thursday, October 5th with the motivation to give children a family through the work of Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries.
In three hours, they raised over $95,000. The Columbia community is speaking through action to care for its children.
Stephens College’s Kimball Ballroom was packed with a sell out crowd of guests and auction items ready for bidding. The night started with a reception hour to bid on silent auction items, take chances at raffle items, and listen to the talented pianist, Ben Colagiavanni.
For dinner, guests enjoyed a plated, custom meal from bleu Events. Missouri First Lady, Dr. Sheena Greitens, gave an empowering talk about the value of our foster system and the Governor’s mission to make Missouri’s the best in the country. She spoke of her visit to Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries, and applauded the work she witnessed, “The work they do at Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries is irreplaceable.”
Following Sheena Greitens talk, Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries screened the first public viewing of its short film, The Choice: A Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries Story. The film follows a mother and son who overcome great adversity to find peace and healing. It is a poignant story about the power of love.
The live auction was the culmination of the evening, and it did not disappoint. Watching the bidding war over Mizzou basketball tickets was the highlight of the evening. Everyone clapped and cheered when someone finally won for a staggering $6,500.
Boots ‘n Bids for Kids is one of Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries’s largest annual fundraisers supporting the daily needs of the children, as well as specific extra-curricular activities. The 2017 event was the largest fundraiser to date. Thank you to all of the volunteers and attendees who made it so, and also to our event sponsors:
