A Visit From the First Lady

Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries welcomed Missouri’s first lady, Dr. Sheena Greitens, for a visit on Friday, April 14. Dr. Greitens graciously brought Easter gifts for all the children, then visited for over an hour. She met and chatted with staff and board members, and toured The Atherton Home and Overton Arena.

Mrs. Greitens’ adopted sister has inspired the first lady to become an advocate for adoption services and foster care in the state of Missouri. While visiting with Development Director Kelly Myers, Mrs. Greitens explained that she hopes to hold a roundtable discussion on those topics in the near future, and wondered how we thought the state of Missouri could be of assistance to Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries and others providing foster care services.

Mrs. Greitens also mentioned that she enjoyed horses as a child. Thus, her visit concluded with a visit to Overton Arena. Equine Specialist Rebecca Buchholz gave her some snacks to feed to one of the horses, while explaining how the horses are a wonderful therapy tool for the children at Coyote Hill Foster Care Ministries.

We greatly appreciated the time Mrs. Greitens spent with us, and the genuine care and concern she showed. We look forward to seeing how Governor and Mrs. Greitens work to better the future of the foster children of Missouri.
